About the Cemeteries

The Grand Haven Charter Township maintains two municipal cemeteries.

Historic Cemetery

The oldest cemetery is the “Historic Cemetery” that was begun in about 1860. The cemetery is 10 acres in size, of which 8 acres are developed. Approximately 3,113 grave sites are maintained, with 820 being available because of a recent addition.

Lakeshore Cemetery

The second cemetery is the “Lakeshore Cemetery” that was purchased in 2001. This cemetery is approximately 26 acres in size and has about 6,400 grave sites with about 2,000 still being available. This cemetery includes a small chapel and a columbarium.
