A notary public is an officer commissioned by the Michigan Secretary of State to serve as an impartial witness to a parties’ signature on various documents. To help serve the community, Grand Haven Charter Township has a notary on staff.

Do I need an appointment?
Although appointments are not mandatory, we highly recommend you call before coming in to ensure a notary is available. Call at 616-842-5988.
Is there a fee for notary services?
Generally, there is no fee for notary services. However, for notarial acts that will take excessive time, a fee may be charged.
What do I need to bring with me?
A government issued ID.
All parties that are required to sign the document must be present.
The entire document that is to be notarized.
Do not sign the document until you are in the presence of the notary and the notary has given you the ok to sign the document.
Do you provide an Apostille?
No. Apostilles can be obtained from the Secretary of State’s office, or in some circumstances the County Clerk’s office.
